Fly Fishing

Last night, we took the boys down to Matt's parents to spend the night, so that Matt & I could go fly fishing today.  This was the first time that we have ever left Levi over night and only Ian's second time (the first being when I was in the hospital giving birth to Levi almost 2 years ago).   Matt asked me how I thought the boys would do..I said "they will probably do great...I am more worried about me."  I did get a little emotional on our way to pick up my fishing license and then again when we got home and I looked into their bedrooms and they were not in there.  Of course I knew they were in good hands, but I still missed them terribly!

This morning, we got up bright and early (bright - from the moon shining down on us). It was beautiful - I kept looking out the window enjoying the view of the morning sky, while Matt drove us to the Duke Energy Bad Creek Project. There we got all geared up and hike just under a mile before we started fly fishing in the White Water River.  Wading in the river, feeling the cool water flow over my feet, listening to it rush down stream all around me, standing in the middle of God's beautiful creation, and all with my husband by my side! It was wonderful.  Matt calls fly fishing in the rivers "therapeutic" ....after being out there for a day I can now see why!

We spent over six hours fishing, talking, untangling our fishing line from branches, laughing, dodging SNAKES and catching some fish!  Matt caught 3 rainbow trout and 2 brown trout.  I missed two fish and foul hooked one (sorry little fishy).

After, a great day in the outdoors, we headed back to Matt's parents to pick up the boys. It was great to be greeted with bear hugs from our little guys!

Craft day!

1. Puppy Puppets - The boys made them at Chick-fil-a.

2. Clothes Pins - I got this idea from a friend.
We went to Hobby Lobby and bought some tiny clothes pins.  After lunch, I let the boys color them and I put their names and their cousins name on some of the pins. Then, I strung up some string and let them attach the"newly decorated" clothes pin to it!  They had a blast!

Things that made me smile this week

  1. Getting roses for no reason - Matt makes me feel so special!
  2. The other night when Matt pulled out of an intersection, we hear Levi in his car seat say "GO GO GO GO" 'READY SET GO"
  3. Ian - "mom mom I have the hiccups" as he hiccups and laughs!
  4. A song that we have been singing in church  "The Greatness of our God "
  5. Planning a vacation!

Fishing

On Matt's way home from work, he stopped and pick up a Lightning McQueen fishing rod for Ian
after dinner we all loaded up and went to a near by pond so Ian could go fishing!

did you notice the change in clothes???   Yeah..Ian took one step too many trying to get close enough to the water to get his line in...and you guessed it. He went head first into the water.  Thankfully, the water was only a foot or two deep -and Matt was right there to pull him out.
so after a quick change of clothes...Ian sat patiently while we explained that he could not get that close to the water
Matt put on a new lurer and bobber.. ...then Matt casted out the line and Ian reeled in the red and white bobber as fast as he could.  I stood with Levi in my arms and we cheered Ian on!
Before we knew it - it was dark and we had to pack up and go home.
even though Ian did not catch a fish...he was excited that he got to go fishing with his daddy and that he got to go SWIMMING with the fish!
