Coca Cola 600

For the last couple of years Matt has been going to the Nascar Coca Cola 600  race in Charlotte, NC. with some friends from PA.

 This year I went with him. 

 Below is a picture of our friend Dale and I sitting under one of the trailers while we waited to get autographs from some of the drivers.

We went to our seat around 3:30 to watch the pre-race show....

You can not go to a race with out picking a driver...

I picked Brian Vickers #83

Matt picked Dale Jr. #88 (picture below) and Carl Edwards # 99

Sitting at the race is nothing like watching it on TV.  At times I felt completely disconnected because I do not know all of the drivers by their numbers and the tower at the race only shows the positions of the driver by number, so I was missing the ticker that runs across the bottom of our TV at home that list the positions by car number and NAME.

But at home, you do not feel the vibration in your seat as the cars go speeding by or smell the burnt tire smell as cars go spinning off track.

 

 In the end, Dale Jr ran out of gas just before the finish line and finished 7th, Edwards finished 16th and Brian Vickers 18th.

 After the race, we headed back to the camper to have a cook out before heading back home at 1:00 am.

More of vacation part 2

Matt and I enjoyed every minute that we had together. 

 We hiked, went to the water park to ride down the water slides, relaxed in the hot tubs, went out to eat, watched movies and just enjoyed not having to chase after little ones for a couple of days!

Vacation Part 2

We planned from the beginning, to spend the first half of our vacation as a family and then the second half would be to celebrate our 10 YEAR wedding anniversary! 

So with the help of my friend, Tiffany and Matt's parents -  Matt and I were able to spend the last half of vacation by ourselves!

Our first stop was clingmans dome.

For dinner, we went to a restaurant that we had planned to go to the last time we were in TN, but didn't because the boys were not happy.  So, Matt promised to take me once we were by ourselves!

 Apple Fritters and Apple Butter!

We sat on a porch swing to enjoy our dinner!

I would try something different next time but I would love to come back -  just to sit on the swing and eat APPLE FRITTERS!

Another Day on Vacation!

Started with an

early morning snuggle with daddy!

Then we spent some time in an outdoor pool until

- you guessed it -

the water park opened!

For lunch we packed a picnic

 and to our surprise - some birds from Parrot Mountain

came to visit!

Ian was so excited that a bird would actually sit on his shoulder

after the birds left we headed back to the water park!
